Guitar Lesson Overview

Let's learn a cool blues rhythm pattern!

Being able to play blues guitar well incorporates a lot more than being able to rip the minor pentatonic scale up and down. If we ignore blues licks for the moment, what a guitar player who is into blues should know, is how to play blues rhythm well. This lesson shows you one way to do just this.

Playing blues is just as much about playing good rhythm as it is playing lead. This is a fairly simple rhythmic pattern using both chords and bass notes. A 12 bar blues played in the key of G

The tab, notation and pdf files are my own work and represent my interpretation of the songs. These files are put together and formatted in Notepad, transformed to MS Word and converted to pdf format to save or print the composition. And, if available, a link back to the Tutorial. Tab files with references to any artist are not meant to be actual transcriptions of copyrighted material.

The lick samples are gathered from talented online teachers; and the related audio clips are extracted from their tutorial pages. Many tabs have been transposed in the Key of Am - at the 5th fret (a popular key when playing the Blues) or the Key of Em - the "guitar key" (all open strings belong to this scale and the most common key for Delta Blues).
